3 of 3 people found the following review helpful.First of all, I purchased the Aton car seat after extensive research on infant seats. This review is related to the base only. I love my car seat for many reasons. The base however gave me problems. For the first few weeks I struggled every day with the base because the ball level indicator would not stay in the green proper angle area. When I would install the seat it would indicate the correct angle but then after driving the ball would shift back into the red zone. I tried installing the base with a thin rolled up towel but still couldn't get the correct angle. I messed with the base daily for weeks! Finally, it occured to me, "maybe the ball level indicator is not working." So, I installed a second base that I had purchased with my seat. Well, sure enough, the issue I was having went away. I contacted the company and was informed that I was not alone and that others have had the same issue. They sent me a new base immediately at no charge and that base works fine. The base gives you a nice tight install. I love the seat belt tension system. I highly recommend this system but just wanted others to know that there could be a potential issue with the base leveling indicators.

If you have a Cybex Aton, you should seriously consider byuing and using this base as opposed to using the seat belt, because this base is easy to use and very sturdy. We went to a local fire station to have our baby car seat & base checked and the staff (firemen, nurses, and police officers) had never seen a base this solid and heavy. In fact, I think the base is a good reason to buy the Cybex Aton car baby seat. Aton is a very nice-looking and safe seat (according to some European tests) and provides probably the best value at its price. The only negatives of this base I can think of are a) the plastic cage where the two bolts in the belt locking system lock is too soft and erodes, possibly making the locking system unusable in the future, and b) the base attaches to the seat so tightly that it might damage leather seats (Cybex should address this issue in the manual and/or in the product somehow).
